GROWING MUSHROOMS WITH OUR MUSHROOM KIT
Growing our own food is one of the most sustainable practices we can do. We started selling mushroom kits when COVID-19 lockdowns started, so anyone can enjoy nutritious, tasty mushrooms whenever they wanted and live sustainably. Growing your own mushrooms at home is full of wonder and an insight into soil, forest, fungi and the natural world. Our mushroom kits are easy to use and can deliver repeated harvests. (3~5 harvests)
GROWING INSTRUCTIONS
GOURMET MUSHROOM FARM
1: REMOVE WINDOW
Open the window where there is a perforation.
*If the log is kept in the bag it will start to fruit. In warmer weather it can even grow mould. If you're not ready to grow yet, keep it in the fridge so the mycelium can stay in hibernation.
2: CUT A X ON THE BAG
Make sure you gently slide a knife on the bag.
*Cutting deeply into the block will damage the mycelium.
3: WATER THE BLOCK
Water the block from the window at least twice a day. Watering frequently will help the mushrooms grow faster.
4: HARVEST
Oyster mushrooms are ready to harvest when the caps start flattening and turning up. Use clean hands to twist and pull to harvest the entire bunch. Don't use a knife. Cutting the mushrooms off with a knife may contaminate the mycelium and leave leftover stems which can mould.
5: REST
When all of the mushrooms are harvested from the log, seal the slit and rest the log for about 2 weeks. After resting, open the box, rotate the block and cut another slit on another surface. Repeat the process from 1~4 again.
*Mushrooms also grow from the top and bottom. Remove the box to grow from areas that aren't accessible from the window.
SHIITAKE LOG
1: REMOVE THE BAG
Take the log out of the bag as soon as you're ready to start growing. Keep the instructions if you want to look back to it.
*If the log is kept in the bag for many weeks, mushrooms will start to fruit. In warmer weather, the lack of fresh air could lead to mould. If you're not ready to grow, keep it in the fridge so the mycelium can stay in hibernation.
2: PLACE THE LOG ON A TRAY
Place the log on a tray or any shallow container so it can collect water droplets when watered. Make sure the log is protected from direct sunlight and wind.
3: WATER THE LOG
Water the block as soon as you take it out of the bag. Drench it until the colour of the surface becomes a darker brown. Try to water the log at least twice a day. Watering frequently will help the mushrooms grow faster.
4: HARVEST
When the mushrooms stop growing, they are ready to harvest. Though there are exceptions, they usually grow as large as a size of a fist. Use clean hands to twist and pull the mushrooms one by one. Don't use a knife. Cutting the mushrooms off with a knife may contaminate the mycelium and leave leftover stems which can mould.
4: REST & RESET
When all of the mushrooms are harvested from the log, rest the log for about 2 weeks. After resting the log, soak it for 6 hours in a bucket filled with cold water to reset the mycelium. Repeat the process from 1~4 again.
